Description: The purpose of the group is to help improve social and communication skills in children with difficulties in these areas. May include individuals with Asperger Syndrome and High-functioning autism.
Topics include:
- Learning empathy or understanding others’ perspectives
- In-person and telephone conversations
- Complimenting others
- Losing and winning graciously
- Taking turns and waiting
- Joining activities
- Managing anger and calming down

Prior to the beginning of group, all children must come with their parents for a 50-minute screening visit. Screening visits can be scheduled by calling our intake department at (205) 868-6702. Fall 2008 applications now being accepted.
