Camp Blue Skies provides residential camps for adults with cognitive and developmental disabilities, including mild to moderate Down Syndrome and Autism.  In addition to the many recreational and outdoor activities available to our campers, we offer learning activities to address individual independence.  Campers have opportunities to challenge themselves in a safe environment in order to enhance their interests and abilities while further developing their social skills.

When/Where - We currently have two Camp Blue Skies sessions in two unique locations:

Camp Blue Skies – Atlanta
Located at Camp Twin Lakes, in Rutledge, GA.  The Camp is approximately 45 minutes east of Atlanta, just south of I-20. (Map)

Camp Blue Skies – North Carolina
Located at Camp Harrison at Herring Ridge in Boomer, NC (about 90 minutes North of Charlotte, NC) between Wilkesboro, NC and Lenoir, NC.  (Map)

Overview
Camp Blue Skies provides residential camps for individuals over 21 with cognitive and developmental disabilities. In addition to the many recreational and outdoor activities available to our campers, we offer learning activities to encourage individual independence. Camp Blue Skies’ focus is on the camper’s physical, mental, and emotional well-being through continued development of a healthy lifestyle and positive social skills.

Camp Blue Skies seeks to provide each camper with fun and adventure through appropriate challenges, and a better understanding of self and others through group living with shared experiences.

The camper to counselor ratio is approximately 2:1,with a professional caregiver in each cabin, along with other volunteer counselors. Campers and Counselors move about the camp grounds in teams. Activity Teams are typically be comprised of 2 cabins, with approximately 4-6 volunteers and approximately 12-16 campers.
