3RD ANNUAL AUTISM MATTERS LEGISLATIVE DAY
Alabama residents to appeal to legislators for increased support of Autism Spectrum Disorders
MONTGOMERY, ALA – The Autism Society of Alabama announces that the 3rd Annual AUTISM MATTERS Legislative Day will be held on Tuesday, March 30th from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the State House in Montgomery. This outdoor forum serves to encourage communication between Alabama citizens and their legislators regarding the overwhelming need for support and services for individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorders.
“Autism affects roughly 1 in 110 children born in the United States today,” said Melanie Jones, Executive Director of the Autism Society of Alabama. “It is crucially important for the well-being of the individuals affected by ASD in our community that we come together and voice our opinions on their behalf.”
At the AUTISM MATTERS Legislative Day, participants will have the chance to educate lawmakers about the need for continued support of the Alabama Interagency Autism Coordinating Council (AIACC) and the Regional Autism Center Network. Participants will also highlight the need for improved reimbursement rates for providers who serve adults with ASD and extended insurance coverage for ASD treatments.
Through increased participation at AUTISM MATTERS Legislative Day over the last two years, three autism bills have been passed. Participants not in attendance can still make an impact by mailing letters, sending e-mails, or making phone calls. Take the time to contact your legislators to ask for their continued support of individuals with ASD. Your voice matters. AUTISM MATTERS.
