As the mother of an autistic child,I have faced many problems.One is daycare.My daughter and I are considering opening a daycare for autistic children and siblings at affordable prices for parents who need it.

One of the problems I faced was being unable to maintain a job because my child had to be picked up from school so often.We would have vans to take care of that for the parent.

What I am wondering is,outside of the normal child care classes,what specifics would we need to deal with these kids on a large scale basis.What kind of training?I know a psychology class is in order but what else?

We are going to do this in the Birmingham area and it will be sometime before we can do it.Can anyone help me?

You may want to talk to the individuals who set up the special needs daycare off Highway 280. I am sure they would be glad to share their experiences.

Childcare Resources would probably also be a very helpful resource as you consider this possibility.

There is definatley a need.
