What happens when these children grow up? Will they just " grow out " of it? Does Autism go away as an adult?

Let me tell you now...it doesn't. This does not disappear at 20, 30 or even 40.It is a lifelong problem.

I think it's great that something is being done for autistic children now. When I was growing up, you had to be almost totally retarded for anyone to even think you had a developmental problem.

My problem is...I seem almost normal.I go to work.I can have a conversation with anyone on any subject.I am extremely intelligent( i.q. measured between 140-170).But I have no friends outside of my wife and kids.I don't get body language.I can't tell the difference between someone joking with me and someone being serious.I'm not good in social situations.
There is nothing out there that deals with adults with asd's.Are we just supposed to fade away as we get older?Think about your kids future.

I guarantee you, if you tested homeless people for asd's you'd find most of them are on the spectrum.

Is this what you want for your kids when they grow up?

My life, while i am married and such, got a job etc. is not what it could be if i could find some resources for adults with asd's.I could be a better father. A better husband.I could understand what friends want from me.I would not be the guy standing in the back of the room anymore.I could go to my daughter's parent-teacher conferences without fear of the crowd.I could learn to manage my tics better.

Maybe someone needs to start an adult asd support group.Cause when your kids grow up....they're gonna need it.

Not that I know of. I wish we could get something together if there were enough people interested.
