ABA in Birmingham 2 Months, 3 Weeks ago Karma: 0
Hi I'm originally from Anniston but have been in VA for the last 6 years. I have a 4 year old with autism, he is currently in ABA, speech, and occupational therapy. I want to move back to the area somewhere around Birmingham. I just wanted to know are these types of services readily avaliable in Birmingham. Anyone know the general cost of services and if medicare pays in AL (it doesn't in VA). Thanks I recently visited my hometown and I would just love to move back, however I have to know if we can accomodate my son.

Hi Chelsia - I am a graduate student in Sped in MO and I am trying to find an ABA implementer for my nephew who lives in B'ham. Are you available? Please let me know at your earliest convenience.

We were receiving services from Hands but we pulled him due to questionable practices.

You may be interested in reading the findings from the Alabama Autism Collaboartive Group labeled Needs Assessment. Insurance policies vary greatly as you know depending on the benefit package your company has selected. As of now, there has been no mandate for Insurance Companies to pay for ABA type services in Alabama. You will find ABA providers listed on our Resource Directory. Also, if you would like to talk to someone directly, I would encourage you to call Jennifer Robertson ASA's Information and Referral Coordinator at 251-259-5553.
