Atmore aspie. 2 Months, 3 Weeks ago Karma: 0
I'm 36, and am having trouble finding information about adults with asperger's.As you well know, being from small town Alabama , and having a developmental disorder can be disastrous.I am happily married, with 2 kids, though. But other than my family, I have no close friends.

I miss out on so much stuff with my wife, because I don't " get" her body language. Is there a way I can learn this somehow?

Also, my mom thinks I can just stop doing my tics; like my current obsession is 3d computer rpgs; (in the past it has been the color crayon black, numbers, reading any paragraph i could find and counting how many of certain letters were in that paragraph, drawing 3/4 front views of cars). that i can quit popping my knuckles, etc.

I have always been picked on; i also can't seem to tell the difference between someone being serious and joking around.

Any information would be helpful, as most of the stuff on the internet seems to deal with children with asd's.

Try the National Institution for Mental Health. They have different divisions for child and adult studies.

There is nothing to worry this matter. Why can't you just enjoy the life of house wife with your children.
so please start being closer to your children that you will know the happiness behind it.

obviously you misunderstood my intentions with this post.

Asperger's/Autism does not go away.

My post is attempting to get info for me and other adults who have it.And to possibly make all of you, who are obviously caring parents--and should be commended in some way--understand that there is nothing , or very little for autistic adults.

Do something about it now, before we have a huge problem in 5-10 years.I am pleading with you.If not me, help your own kids.Get something going.

For instance,I still am not fully independent.I cannot put myself in other's shoes, I can't " get" verbal directions,I can't repeat what was just told to me on the phone.

My wife is a great person.she helps me out when I'm confused, or helps me to remember stuff.Your children are going to grow up.

What are the odds that they'll meet someone like my wife?
