Hello- We recently moved to Alabama from Mississippi. Our 10 year old autistic son was on Mississippi Medicaid. We qualified under "disabled child living at home"- not because of income. I contacted Alabama Medicaid and the paperwork doesn't show anything about diagnosis, etc...it all seems to be income-based, so I'm thinking I didn't call the correct phone number or request the correct paperwork. Can anyone help, please? Thanks! Kimberly

We just moved here from Arkansas and my son had Medicaid/Tefra. We paid a monthly premium, but all his expenses were covered 100%. Nothing like that here in Alabama. It is all income based. So, if you have $, don't waste your time. This was a big disappointment for us, but we will make it. Our son has other health problems besides autism.

I'm not sure what number to tell you to call. My son was accepted into Medicaid six years ago based on his diagnosis, but I got the number from Early Intervention. I don't remember if there's a different way to contact Medicaid for this situation or not. I'm sorry.
